Facility

Ibom LNG is an emerging leading facility which enables export of Nigerian natural gas to the rest of the world.

Liquefied Natural Gas

Natural gas is an in-demand energy source, clean burning, safe for storage and easily liquefied for transport.

For export purposes, the natural gas, will first be liquefied to form Liquefied natural gas (LNG), which reduces its volume by 600-fold, for ease of transport through built for purpose marine vessels.  

LNG is known to be odourless, colourless, non-toxic, non-corrosive and non-flammable. In order to transport LNG safely and efficiently to new markets destinations, the gas is cooled to -162°C, at which temperature it turns into a liquid that can be stored at or around atmospheric pressure. LNG cannot support combustion, because it doesn’t contain oxygen. In contact with air, it vaporizes quickly with leaving any residue behind. 

 ABOUT OUR FACILITY

Our plant’s site, after a comprehensive pre-feasibility and feasibilities studies will be a natural placement with unimpeded access to the Atlantic Ocean for export, away from less or excessive human settlements, and close proximity to in-situ natural resources.

LNG PROCESSING UNITS

Our capacity is 10 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) on a scalable train.  

Natural gas through the processing units, known as trains, will strain out carbon dioxide, water, condensate, sulphur and any other impurities. After the gas is chilled to an approximately -162°C it turns into LNG. Since the feeder gas was associated gas, LPG, NGL and Condensates will be stored and railed out to market. Storage Tanks: LNG is piped to a 225,000m3 storage tank until it is loaded onto LNG carriers at the wharf.  

LNG Loading Lines: The LNG loading lines will transfer LNG from the storage tanks through the marine terminal to the LNG carrier which is well insulated to conserve energy and to keep the LNG in its liquid form.  

Flare Stacks: As common feature in all LNG facilities. The facility will have flare stacks which acts as safety devices, during an expected small, clean-burning flame at the top of the stacks, similar to a pilot light. This pilot light will be approximately three feet in height and will likely not be visible during the day.  

WORKFORCE ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation for the workforce will be situated away from the process area, from the feasibility studies, it location is approximately 25mins drives from the LNG facility. The lodge will be designed as a self-sufficient and self- servicing city with lots of recreational, educational and socio-economic provisions therein.
